Pond 1 is the original pond created for the old coal mine workings at Williamthorpe and was formed around 1910-20, the original pond was over 6 acres however the pond was turned into a nature reserve in the 1980,s and the number of pegs fishable was reduced to 9. all 9 pegs are located to the north eastern end of the pond
The pond is now around 3 acres but can only be fished from 9 pegs at the North and north east end of the pond.
The pond is around 5-6 foot at the deepest and has a very silty bottom.
There is one disabled peg which is the closest peg to the carpark, the carpark is big enough for 12 cars.
Car parking is only allowed in the carpark provided.
Access to Pond 1 is via the barrier off Mansfield Road, Keys are available from the Secretary or resident bailiffs, there is a charge for Car Parks keys.
The Barrier must be kept locked at all times.
There is a 5 mph speed limit on the access road, please observe at all times.
The Sat Nav co-ordinates to the access gate for pond 1 are 53-11-59N 1-21-11W.
The fish stocks are relatively low compared to other club ponds, however the quality and size of fish are very good.
The Pond holds Carp, Bream, Ide, Roach, Rudd, Perch, Chub and Tench.
Pond 1 represents the hardest water to fish at Williamthorpe angling club

Pond 1 has a closed season from March 15th to July 15th.
Fish from dawn to dusk only.
You cannot fish the Pond on a Day Ticket and Night fishing is prohibited.
A maximum of 2lb ground bait to be used per fishing session.
