Lings Pond



History


Lings Pond originates from the old Lings Colliery which closed around 1896.


In the early 1960’s Lings Pond became part of Williamthorpe Angling club. The pond has been developed over the years and recently a new carpark and access road has been completed.




Description


There are 26 pegs spaced around the pond.

The pond is around 1.0 acres and has depths to 8 feet, the bottom is relatively snag free and has a clay bottom.


Amenities


There is one disabled peg which is the closest peg to the carpark, the carpark is big enough for 16 cars. Car parking is only allowed in the carpark provided.


Access to Lings is via the 5 bar Gate off Chesterfield Road, Keys are available from the Secretary or resident bailiffs, there is a charge for Car Parks keys. The Gate must be kept locked at all times.

The Sat Nav co-ordinates to the access gate for Lings pond are 53-11-43N 1-22-09W.



There is a 5 mph speed limit on the access road, please observe at all times.


Fish Stocks


There is large variation of fish in the pond. The fish found in Lings pond include, Carp, Crucian Carp, Bream, Roach, Rudd, Perch and Tench.


The catch rate in Lings pond is generally Very Good and is the easiest pond to fish.




Additional Pond Rules

  • Pond open all year round but no keepnets (except in matches) between 14th March and 16th June
  • Fish dawn to dusk only.
  • A maximum of 2lb ground bait to be used per fishing session.
  • All nets to be dipped on arrival.
  • You cannot fish the Pond on a Day Ticket and Night fishing is prohibited.
  • Juniors must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
